My debt overview: clarity in 5 steps
Without an overview, paying off debt is guessing. A debt overview shows how much you still owe, at what interest rate and when you could be done.

Why an overview helps
A debt overview gives peace of mind because you no longer have to guess. You see which debt costs the most, how much you pay per month and what remains for extra repayments. That is the basis of every payoff plan.
Which details do you need?
- Name of the lender or organisation you borrowed from.
- The remaining amount you still have to repay.
- The interest rate: the annual percentage you pay.
- The monthly payment you currently make, including interest.
- Any extra fees or conditions for penalty-free repayment.
Example debt overview
| Debt | Remaining balance | Annual interest | Monthly payment | Remaining term |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Personal loan | € 8,500 | 8.9% | € 220 | 46 months |
| Credit card | € 1,200 | 14.0% | € 60 | minimum |
| Student loan | € 12,000 | 2.5% | € 110 | ~ 9 years |
This is a simplified example. The amounts shown are fictional and for illustration only. Your own loan may have different conditions.
From overview to plan
Once you know where you stand, you can choose which debt to tackle first. The app shows the snowball method and the interest-rate strategy side by side, including end date and total interest costs.

Keep your overview up to date
An overview is not a one-time exercise. After every extra repayment or interest change the picture shifts. Update your overview monthly, for example right after your fixed payments are debited.
Frequently asked questions
What if I do not have all the details?
Start with what you do know. Most details can be found on your statements or in the online portal of your lender. Unknown interest rates can be filled in later.
How often should I update my overview?
At least once a month, right after the fixed debits. That way you see whether you are still on track and whether room for extra repayment has opened up.
Can I share my overview with a counsellor?
Yes, a clear overview helps a debt counsellor or budget coach help you faster. Read help with debt for free options.
